Week 0... pt 1

Ok... here goes.

I've been interested in coding for a while now. Took a computer science class in community college on a whim about 10 years ago. Learned python, thought "Wow! What if I did this?" Then I shelved it.

A few years later, I took another class that focused on Java. "Oh yeah! I liked this!" Then I shelved it again.

Here I am again years later. I recently got an opportunity to do a bootcamp. Do I remember much from my past experiences...? Nope! Perfect.

Oh god. I just noticed that this site is using Markdown... something I literally learned early today.

User Story

A coding bootcamp student starts the prework for the course. The modules encourage him to connect with the developer community.

He gives a rough overview of the last 2 days of his experience

In a nutshell...

I'm excited? I don't know what I'm doing but it feels like I'm at least doing as well as I'm supposed to. When I've coded before, it's been very focused on "this is how you write a line of code." Almost none of that has translated to what I've done so far. I've... opened the terminal on my mac? WHO DOES THAT? The terminal is something you're never ever ever supposed to touch because you'll RUIN YOUR COMPUTER.
I'm now using terminal to communicate with vscode which is then communicating with github... but the terminal is also communicating directly with github?
And there are so many times that I will finish a step that my bootcamp guided me through and my finished product will look different from the screenshot I'm shown. Then I go down a deep rabbit hole only to discover that... it's probably fine that it doesn't look the same? Onwards I guess.

Honestly, I sound negative, but I feel less so. I can't wait to jump back in and keep going. I guess I needed to vent. I'm also counting on no one reading this.

Don't read this.

k thx bye

p.s. When I previewed this, Dev told me to consider changing "Don't read this" to a level 2 heading. I say NAY to that. Let my incompetence be natural.
