What I Learned Auditing 50 SaaS Stacks — Every Company Overpays on These 3 Things

After auditing 50 small business SaaS stacks, a pattern emerged. Every single company was overpaying on the same three things:

1. Communication Tools (average waste: $180/month)

Slack + Zoom + Microsoft Teams + Discord. Most companies need two of these, max. I regularly find 3-4 overlapping tools. One company paid for Slack Enterprise ($12.50/user) AND Teams (included in M365) for the same 15 employees.

Fix: Pick one chat tool, one video tool. Cancel the rest.

2. Project Management (average waste: $120/month)

Asana, Monday.com, Trello, Notion, ClickUp. Pick one. The team using all five is not more productive — they are just confused about where tasks live.

Fix: Consolidate to one PM tool. Migrate data during a sprint. Save $100+/month instantly.

3. Design/Creative Tools (average waste: $90/month)

Canva Pro + Adobe Creative Cloud + Figma + Framer. Unless you run a design agency, you do not need all four.

Fix: Audit who actually uses what. Cancel unused seats.

Total potential savings: $300-500/month. That is $3,600-6,000/year — from three simple audits.

I built Bento to do this automatically. Free SaaS stack scanner: https://bento.ctonew.app/calculator
