How to Make Your Phone Battery Last Longer

To make your phone battery last longer, focus on four things: stay between 20% and 80%, keep the phone cool, turn the screen down, and let your phone cap its own charging. Get those right, and you’ll squeeze years more out of it.

We all do it. Plug in before bed and wake up to a full battery. Feels sensible. It’s actually one of the worst habits going.

Why Your Battery Fades in the First Place
Almost every phone uses a lithium-ion battery. The One Solution explains why: they pack a lot of energy into a small space, which lets makers build slim phones. The catch: they don’t last forever.

iFixit states that a battery’s life is about how many charging cycles it takes before it stops holding a useful charge. One cycle means using 100% of the capacity in one go or 50% across two days.

Mail.com notes an iPhone 15 battery is rated to keep at least 80% of its capacity for 1,000 full cycles. Older models managed roughly half that.
