Industry 5.0 is innovating because it is moving beyond merely automating factories and focusing on making them human-centric, sustainable, and resilient. These three aspects are described by the European Commission as the three primary pillars of Industry 5.0.
Automation technologies such as AI, robotics, the Internet of Things, and automation will still be necessary, but they will be used to assist the work force and not to substitute them.
To me, the most significant aspect of innovation under Industry 5.0 is that the focus is being placed on using technology not only for the purpose of using it but rather to address the challenges of operation, environment, and human workforce.
Basically, Industry 5.0 is asking: How to make industry smarter with the help of technology and at the same time make it better for human beings and our environment?
