Why Digital Data Is Not Enough for the Pharma Industry?

Pharma manufacturing facilities produce a great deal of data regarding their operation—from machinery and inventory to people movement, environmental factors, and batch manufacturing processes. However, data collection is only half the job done.

Current AIoT solutions may be used by pharmaceutical manufacturers to link physical processes with the digital infrastructure of a plant. RFID technology, BLE sensors, edge computing, and AI algorithms can ensure higher visibility of assets, materials, people activities, production processes, and controlled environments.
Think of a manufacturing facility where people should track equipment usage, control the number of workers in a cleanroom, maintain the accuracy of inventory, and follow batch manufacturing processes. With data scattered across separate systems, pinpointing any delays or potential risks might become hard. Connecting all those data points together would ensure a better understanding of what is going on inside the factory.

Traceability is also made possible with such a system. Connecting materials, equipment, people, processes, and production records ensures higher traceability of a batch manufacturing process.

In short, the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing does not lie merely in connecting more devices.
