Looking for Contributors to Famalth Lynx - Open-Source Retail & Restaurant Management Software

I'm working on Famalth Lynx, an open-source retail and restaurant management software project built with Flutter.

The goal is to build practical software for retail stores and restaurants while welcoming developers who want to contribute to a real-world project, exchange ideas, and solve interesting engineering problems.

I'm particularly interested in connecting with developers experienced in Flutter, POS systems, restaurant management, desktop applications, and offline-first software.

What are we building?

Famalth Lynx focuses on retail and restaurant management workflows, including:

  • Point of sale (POS) and order management
  • Restaurant table management and separate customer bills
  • Retail sales and billing workflows
  • Mobile-to-desktop order communication
  • Receipt and kitchen ticket printing
  • Offline functionality
  • Improving application architecture, usability, and reliability

Where can contributors help?

There are opportunities to contribute in several areas:

Flutter development: UI improvements, state management, architecture, and bug fixes.

POS and restaurant workflows: Order handling, table management, billing, and retail operations.

Desktop and mobile integration: Reliable communication between mobile devices and desktop POS systems over a local network.

Thermal printer integration: Routing orders to a desktop application and printing receipts or kitchen tickets through an installed printer.

Testing and documentation: Automated tests, setup guides, code quality, and improving the developer experience.

A technical challenge we're exploring

One problem we're working through is how to send orders from a mobile device to a desktop POS application over the same Wi-Fi network, then process and print those orders reliably.

We want to understand the best approach for handling network interruptions, preventing duplicate orders, and supporting environments where an internet connection may not always be available.

If you've worked with Flutter desktop, local networking, printer integration, or offline-first applications, your experience would be valuable.

How can you contribute?

You don't need to be an expert in every part of the system. Contributions could include fixing a bug, writing tests, improving documentation, reviewing architecture, or implementing a feature.

The aim is to create a collaborative open-source project that developers can learn from and improve together.

If you're interested in contributing to open-source retail software, restaurant management systems, or Flutter-based POS applications, take a look at the repository and its open issues.

I'd welcome constructive feedback, technical discussions, and contributions from developers who want to help shape Famalth Lynx.

Let's build something useful together.
