Most of us keep a small graveyard of unfinished courses. It holds a paid productivity challenge abandoned on day three and a book on negotiation with the bookmark still at page forty. Each time we started with real enthusiasm, and each time life stayed exactly the same.
Next to it, in our saved videos, another hundred and fifty clips are piling up: a slow-cooked beef stew recipe, twelve ideas for a tiny hallway, a weekend project to build garage shelving, a guide to sharpening a kitchen knife properly. We saved each one fully intending to come back to it, and all of them are still waiting.
Michael Bang has spent thirty years teaching people to sell, and he knows exactly where “I get it” stalls on its way to “I did it.” His new webinar series for SWC Pass subscribers, Golden Keys, is about getting past that halfway point.
Half an hour on Wednesday and one task for the week
Episodes come out on Wednesdays and run from 17 to 30 minutes, short enough to watch over a lunch break. Michael takes one idea, breaks it down and ends with an assignment for the week. The assignment is small and fits into your ordinary routine.
Once you have done it, you press “Done” and come back for the next key. The series counts one thing only: what you managed to do during the week.
What’s ahead
The series opened on September 30 with an episode about the traps that keep us stuck in place for years. The first of them is called “watching without doing,” and almost everyone recognizes it in themselves.
The second episode, The Four Stages of Competence, came out on October 7. Any new skill travels from “I have no idea what I’m missing” to “I do it without thinking,” and the most uncomfortable stretch is the middle, when you can already see how clumsy your results still are. That is where many people give up. On October 14 the third key arrives, The Law of Cause and Effect: every result in life has a cause, and if you want a different result, the work starts with that cause.
If you missed these episodes, the recordings are available, so you can start calmly with the first key and catch up with everyone by October 21. Here is the rest of the program.
October 21: Three Circles of Life.
October 28: Two Barriers on the Road to Success, the final episode of the series.
After that, a new key arrives every Wednesday for a whole year.
Who Michael Bang is
Michael Bang is Danish, born in Copenhagen in 1952. He has worked in Europe and the United States, and since the early 2000s he has regularly run training sessions in Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. He founded the International School of Sales, created Total Sales System and several other programs on sales and customer service, and holds the title of honorary professor at the Ural State University of Economics. According to his school, more than 250,000 people have attended his training sessions.
If this will be your first time seeing Michael, be ready to take part. He jokes, tells stories and keeps asking the audience to do something. He sees selling as the skill of helping a person make up their mind, and in Golden Keys the decisions are yours to make.
How to join
If you have SWC Pass, the series is already part of your subscription, so all you need to do is register for the broadcast. If you would like to join, get SWC Pass and start with the next episode.
The broadcast time on the registration page is shown in your own time zone. If Wednesday is a busy day for you, register anyway and watch the recording later.
The third episode, The Law of Cause and Effect, comes out on October 14. If you also have a couple of abandoned courses gathering dust, this is a good moment to start finishing what you begin.
