On 29 September 2026 OpenAI launched Dots at DevDay: always-on agents on GPT-6 Astra with their own cloud computer. Pro and Business Premium first; laptop access is opt-in.
Grok Bot (August) and Meta Muse (early September) already sell the same shape: a bot that is really a cloud PC that keeps clicking while you sleep. Dots arrived later and priced the door higher. Muse can loiter for free at the entrance. Dots wants Pro. There is a $500 tier above that.
Is it good for the industry? Yes — chat boxes become workstations. For normal people? Also yes, if you can pay. Demos are public. Night shifts are members-only. The window got democratized. The door did not.
