Complementary feeding is critical for optimal nutrition in infants and young children as it ensures their growth, health and development to attain their full potential. However, evidence shows thatchildren from developing countries do not meet the core indicators for appropriate complementary feeding. We evaluated mothers' knowledge and attitudes regarding child feeding recommendations and the determinants of adequate diet among children aged 6-23 months.
This cross-sectional study included 200 children aged 6-23 months and their mothers/care givers recruited during child welfare clinics of two health facilities in Ghana. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression was used to assess determinants of adequate diet.
Sixty-eight percent of the mothers knew the recommended duration of continued breastfeeding, 56.5% how to ensure dietary diversity and enrich their children's diets and 94% (n = 188) had positive attitude towards recommended infant and young child feedr children with adequate diets.
Motherss knowledge levels regarding infant and young child feeding recommendations had notable deficiencies although they generally had a positive attitude towards child feeding recommendations. Knowledge regarding infant and young child feeding recommendations as well as the child's father having adequate income were important determinants of adequate diet. Nutrition education should emphasize on improving mothers' nutrition knowledge regarding infant and young child feeding recommendations and supporting mothers to overcome barriers to feed their children with adequate diets.
Postpartum sexual health and practice need to be integrated in the current maternal healthcare services to address sexual health problems. However, postpartum sexual practice has received little attention, and was not often discussed by healthcare providers during prenatal and postnatal care. Thus, this study was aimed to assess early resumption of sexual intercourse and associated factors among postpartum women in Gondar city, Northwest Ethiopia.
A community based cross-sectional study was conducted from January 20 to February 20, 2020. A systematic random sampling technique was used to select 634 postpartum women. A pretested, structured and interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data. Data were entered into Epi Info 7.2.2 and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. The Swedish National Cataract Register (NCR) collects data on cataract surgery outcomes during March, including patient-reported outcomes using the Catquest-9SF questionnaire for over 11 years. Previous studies from NCR have shown that the preoperative visual acuity has improved over time. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the Catquest-9SF Rasch scoring performance in this changing environment. A second purpose was to describe clinical data over the same period for those who completed the questionnaire.
The performance of the Catquest-9SF was analysed by a separate Rasch analysis for each year, resulting in a preoperative and postoperative score for each participating patient in the annual cohorts. The clinical data and questionnaire scoring were analysed for each year in the period 2008-2018 inclusive.
Data were available for 42,023 eyes for 11 annual cohorts (2008-2018). The psychometric properties of the questionnaire were stable during the study period. Person separation (precision) forisual acuity in the operated eye (0.14 to 0.09 logMAR, p < 0.001).
