Water Temperature for Different Teas
Water temperature strongly affects taste. Too hot for delicate teas brings bitterness; too cool does not open the aroma.
Guidelines
- White and green: 75–85°C
- Light oolongs: 85–90°C
- Dark oolongs and black: 90–95°C
- Puer: near boiling
Practice without a thermometer
Let boiling water sit 1–3 minutes for delicate teas. For puer you can pour right away.
Common mistake
Brewing green or white with rolling boil “for strength”. Strength comes from leaf amount and time, not overheating.
At Tea Bro you can choose tea and learn how to brew it.
