A small pre-launch review can catch avoidable problems before a PHP app goes live. Use this checklist for applications you own or are authorized to maintain.
- Remove development leftovers. Turn off debug output in production, remove test routes and sample credentials, and keep configuration secrets out of the code repository.
- Update dependencies. Review the packages your app uses, update supported versions, and remove libraries the app no longer needs.
- Protect user input. Validate data on the server, use parameterized database queries, and escape output for the context where it appears. Add CSRF protection to state-changing forms.
- Check access and sessions. Require authorization on sensitive actions, use secure session settings over HTTPS, and apply multi-factor authentication to administrative accounts where available.
- Plan for failure. Keep backups, test that you can restore them, log security-relevant events without recording passwords or tokens, and know how to report an issue.
This is a starting checklist, not a substitute for a security review. Test only systems you own or have clear permission to assess.
