• Time for Technology , What is File System ? If you want to use any Empty Disc , first we need to configure file system for that.
  In Linux we have many file systems like ext4 - This is the default FS were all distro's are using now-a-days. So in LINUX MINT the root partition will be using this FS only.
  In LINUX everything is FILE.
  All physical hard disc - '/dev/sda'
  CD ROM - '/dev/sr()'

• So '/dev/sda' is like C Drive in WINDOWS ? அதுதான் இல்ல , its '/dev/sda1' இதுதான் C drive மாதிரி First partition.

• In Linux we won't use any C or D drive concept. Each partition will be mapped to File System with a folder.

• The parent folder of File system is "/" its called Root Directory. These folders will act like mount point to '/dev/sda1' in file system.

• Which partition is mapped with which folder can be identified by using ,
  

/etc/fstab
man 5 fstab
mount

ls -ld /

• With this output , we can see only ROOT user can modify. For all users , a home directory will be created like "ls -ld /home/subraja"

• In "/" , there will be many folders. But "/boot, /proc, /dev, /etc, /home, /usr, /var, /tmp" these folders are very important.
