A decade ago, most companies treated security as something reactive

Private security teams now outnumber police officers in the US, and the reason isn’t just rising crime or bigger corporate budgets. Modern infrastructure runs on constant uptime. Warehouses, hospitals, data centers, logistics hubs — they all depend on prevention, monitoring, and rapid on-site response long before emergency services arrive.

What’s interesting from a tech perspective is how much security has become an engineering problem.

Today’s security vendors operate with AI surveillance, remote monitoring platforms, smart access control, anomaly detection, and integrated cyber-physical systems. Guards are no longer just walking patrols. Many are working alongside analytics tools, incident management software, and real-time monitoring stacks.
