While there will always be valid cases for on-premise operations, I do believe most companies will eventually transition to cloud infrastructure. While I can't speak to trends in different geographies, it's become apparent analyzing the customer base of my own SaaS product that cloud adoption is becoming more commonplace. ADFS is a smaller and smaller footprint for my SSO integrations while Okta, Azure, etc. see increasing adoption.

Going cloud is a big change if your company has been mature long enough to have invested in on-premise infrastructure, and people are naturally change resistant.

But for us building corporate infrastructure today from the ground up? Cloud is cheaper, quicker, and aligns well with the current demand for remote working.

Yes agreed that there will be some niche cases where cloud doesn't make sense. But for anything new and not so unique, Cloud is the way forward.
