Day 21/90: Practice: Generic data structures - Rust Engineering

Day 21/90: Practice: Generic data structures

90 Day Rust Challenge: Zero to Production

Today I wanted generic data structures to feel like a real engineering decision, not a syntax demo. The useful shift was using practice: generic data structures to express shared behavior without making the type story fuzzy.

The checks that mattered were clear module and crate boundaries, state transitions that survive one more feature, and recovery paths designed at the same time as the happy path.

The failure mode I was actively trying to avoid was adding generic or trait machinery before the shared behavior is clear. Practice days are where generic data structures stops being theory. I wanted a version that could survive one more requirement without collapsing into copy-paste fixes.

That is the bar I want from this track: code that stays readable when requirements move, not just code that compiles today.
