No inspection can prove with certainty that a used drone has never crashed. The goal is more practical: reduce avoidable uncertainty by combining visible-condition checks, functional evidence, seller disclosures, battery and warning history, and a transparent condition grade. A clean shell is useful information, but it is not the whole condition record.

Functional evidence to request

Ask the seller for a current, unedited view of normal startup, the exact app warning screen if one exists, camera output, and a clear statement of any known repair or impact history. If the aircraft is still associated with a prior owner account, address the relevant ownership and binding steps through the legitimate platform process before purchase. Do not ask for private flight data that the owner is not willing or authorized to share.

Repeated warnings deserve more attention than a single unexplained note in a listing. Record whether the warning happens at startup, during calibration, at takeoff, or after an update. That timing helps distinguish a repeatable symptom from an unverified claim.

Battery history is part of crash-risk review

Battery condition is not merely an accessory question. A damaged or abnormal battery can change the safety decision regardless of the aircraft's cosmetic appearance. Do not keep charging or using a battery that is swollen, hot, wet, punctured, leaking, or behaving unusually. For a used purchase, request clear condition information and avoid treating a battery count alone as a full battery-health result.

How to use a condition grade correctly

A condition grade should make the listing more specific, not less. A useful grading framework separates:

  1. Cosmetic condition.
  2. Functional checks and known limits.
  3. Battery condition.
  4. Controller and accessory completeness.

Price should follow evidence, not the other way around
