Truck Key Programming
Many customers come into your shop handing you keys/fobs in a mess. Many customers will pay to fix the key/fob.
Most key fobs need to be programmed by turning the ignition 'On and off within a time frame. The vehicle will enter an 'initiation' mode, which is usually signalled by the door locks chiming or an audible chime.
Keys

Key programming is a specific area of automotive service that requires a thorough understanding of the immobilizer system in the vehicle and the unique method used to generate the pin code. Once that is done you can turn the key OFF and then take it out. Insert the key you previously programmed, and then turn it on the ON/RUN.
This is usually the cause for a security lamp to illuminate. This means that the new key was not programmed correctly. Reverse the steps, turning off and on and then turn it back off and on. This should correct the issue and allow you to start the car with the new key.
Some vehicles require that you first put the vehicle in an exclusive key programming mode.
