As enterprise data and AI agents grow, a fundamental problem emerges: Are business concepts across different systems actually the same thing? For example, is the "Supplier" in a procurement system the same as the "Vendor" in contracts? Relying on scattered documents causes constant semantic ambiguity for data integration and knowledge graphs.
To solve this, we are thrilled to announce that qOntology is officially open-sourced! π
qOntology goes beyond simple relationship diagramming. It brings Ontology Engineering into a unified workflow, turning scattered business definitions into manageable, reusable semantic assets.
Why move from "Modeling" to "Engineering"?
As models scale, definitions become hard to unify, structures get out of sync, and version control turns into chaos. Downstream users need to know what changed and which version is valid.
What the Current Open-Source Version Offers:
π― Goal Management: Start with the business problem, define scope, and set clear boundaries.
π Terminology & Enums: Centrally maintain definitions and aliases (e.g., unifying "Supplier" and "Vendor") to build a shared semantic understanding.
𧱠Ontology Modeling: Define object types, attributes, and relationships with clear business meanings, making the model fully explainable.
(Upcoming Roadmap) We plan to add Quality Checks (rule-based validation) and Version Release & Standard Export to complete the engineering cycle.
Open for Developers
Developers can pull the code, follow the Quick Start guide, and validate the workflow in real-world scenarios.
Letβs move from "modeling once" to "continuously maintaining enterprise semantic assets." π
