"I perform my manager’s responsibilities during the day during business hours and my maker’s responsibilities at nights and on weekends". So what about being both a manager and a maker during work hours? Sorry -- but I'd like to devote my nights and weekends to my family, friends, and other interests (like music). Being an engineering manager "by day" and then doing maker stuff on nights and weekends like you describe seems like a recipe for burnout.
