Connecting AirPods Pro using Automator

When I use my AirPods Pro for both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro, the AirPods Pro connects to the device which it connected last time. It is annoying when I use my MacBook after I used my iPhone with my AirPods Pro because I have to manually operate in the sound setting or the bluetooth setting of MacOS.

I decided to create a one click method to have AirPods Pro connect my MacBook Pro quickly.

The workflow of Automator is following. Usually, you need to create those steps by the recording feature.

  1. Launch Application - System Preferences.app.

  2. What Me Do - Click the "Sound" button. (Type "Sound" in "Search")

  3. What Me Do - Type "[Name_of_AirPods]" into the text field. (Click the sound device which is AirPods)

  4. What Me Do - Press Cmd+Q (Make sure playback speed should be 1x otherwise "step 3." does not have enough time to click the device.)

  5. Save the workflow as an application.

Additionally, you will be asked to grant the application the permission for Accessibility when you execute the application.
