Disagree with you, developer must understand the business. That's how they can be more valuable. I have spend 20+ years in technology space and developers who just code without knowing the business are just like people behind burger King, flipping parties and buns. Business analyst can't do justice IMHO. on hiring a non tech manager, it can work for non fin-tech companies but in fin-tech we do need a techy manager, else we have shitty system to manage.
Just my 2 cents.
25+ years as a Software Developer. I'm passionate about process improvement using technology. Let's all work smarter not harder and do more with less.
MY THOUGHTS ARE MY OWN
"developer must understand the business. That's how they can be more valuable" I have to reply to this. You think developers aren't valuable enough? I'm sorry but that's just plain insane. The issue with your argument is that anyone can flip burgers, everyone can't develop. That's why there is a developer shortage in the world. Just my 2 cents.
