Another step toward the heavens. While poking around, I discovered that PowerControl tracks the installation date via the
plasma-updatercfile located in the/binfolder. Could this be the timer? Let’s delete it. Voila: PowerControl is active again—with no expiration date. Well, don’t I deserve a beer for that? If you need more info, get in touch. Bye, Rino.Great research! Congratulations—that’s an interesting and unconventional bypass method. Honestly, we’ve done so much to improve the distribution’s security features that the developers really ought to be buying everyone here a beer! :))
Hi dev!
I'm testing winux for a project to migrate IT platform in opensources application in my organization. Like everybody it's annoying to me to accept the forced windows's edge for activating winux.
My position is that winux is based on an free opensource operating system, so it's not acceptable to, constantly, put a "spam" when you begin it.
Trying the solution proposed above (thank's to dev.) is, apparently, unsuccessful (or it's my user's skills quite moderate 😀).
So i try a basic approach and uninstall edge to terminate the unwanted windows and it's; at this moment, ok !
As i use Opera web browser for internet it's ok for me. Apparently, Winux team put a new attempt to setup chrome new browser but i refuse the setup ; it seems remaining a little notification in task bar but it, now, acceptable 🙂
Best regards from France (from normandy people),
Pierre
The main thing is that your solution works)) the rest is just a matter of technique!))
Hi Dev !
Thank's a lot for trying to improve winux's use (stop unexpected activate winux 😀)...
No way for me, i try your solution, unsuccessful, an attempt to silence edge by uninstalling it, then chrome all don't stop reminding activate except that is less annoying now when i decrease the time's notification...
Now in my opera's choice to browse they put again a reminder 😁.
So, at this time, i stop my investigation...
hi. i win. i remove all nags screen. registration on startup and recompile powertools. it still say trial time is finish but not nag screen, not registration and not 15 second.
if sameone want my modify, i'm here. bye
To be fair, the cost for registering is VERY low, and the devs have spent a LOT of time working on the project. If you can afford to support them, shouldn't you?
Yes but their work is mostly based ? on a debian opensource platform. So, i understand they want to make us buying their solution not their annoying way to force us. It could be the best way to leave my testing unless i do not do this for me but a "non profit" organization...
It is always worth supporting developers; this article was written primarily for them. The ability to bypass their protection systems is a significant issue—if they have read the article and fixed this, then they deserve full credit and praise.
Very useful - thank you.
thank u so much :D
you are welcome))
