Parents in China

As the tree desires stillness but the wind continues to blow, a child desires to care for their parents but the parents are no longer there. There are a few things in life that cannot wait: the fleeting passage of time, the heart of filial piety, and the love we encounter.

Parents' lives are not easy. They have worked hard for decades, their hair turned grey, and their faces marked with wrinkles. Everything they do is for their children, sparing no effort to provide a good life, to send them to the best schools, buy the best clothes and shoes, and offer the best food. The hearts of parents everywhere are full of sacrifice—how much they give, and what do we do for them in return? Yet many people, living in comfort, fail to realize their blessings, and hurt their parents over and over again. How wrong that is. No matter what, we should never break our parents’ hearts.

Jay Chou has a song called Listen to Mother’s Words, and it’s truly a good song. Indeed, no matter when, we should always listen to our mothers. Parents always have our best interests at heart, so we should never complain that they’re too nagging. Every interruption, every moment of impatience, is the greatest harm to them. Take the time to carefully, attentively, and patiently listen to their advice, even if you don't want to.

In this lifetime, a few decades is all we get—don't leave behind regrets. Spend more time with your parents when you can. I’m still in college, and I only get to see my parents twice a year. In about a year, I will graduate and step into the workforce. Once I start working, if my parents are not nearby, I will only be able to see them once a year. When you calculate it, the time we spend with our parents is truly limited. Do those trivial matters really matter so much? Compared to our parents, they are probably as light as a feather. So, why not spend more time with them? No matter how great our achievements may be, the greatest hope of our parents is that we live safely and happily.

Parents are selfless and don’t expect much in return. In this complicated world, only this familial love remains the purest.

Parents have it hard, so cherish them as you walk through life.

This article is dedicated to the ones I love the most—my parents.
