UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) design are, in the grand scope of tech roles, somewhat similar. But they are actually two different disciplines.

What Is UX?
UX, or User Experience design, was first laid out by Don Norman in his 1988 book The Design of Everyday Things. UX, as detailed by Norman, is everything that a customer experiences with a company, from first introduction, to on-boarding, throughout their relationship with the company. User experience design is a human-first way of designing products.
UX applies to anything that can be experienced — be it a website, an android screen or a coffee machine. The “user experience” part refers to the interaction between the user and a product or service.A UX designer thinks about how the experience makes the user feel, and how easy it is for the user to accomplish their desired tasks. It’s more about how the product made them feel about.
User experience design is the process of developing and improving the quality of interaction between a user and all facets of a company. It focuses on overall feel of the experience.
What Is UI?
User Interface (UI) Design is extended to digital products, as the designer focuses on the actual graphical user interfaces(GUI’s)of a product. Be it for mobile apps or desktop software ,or interactive methods like menus, buttons, forms…anything you can swipe, scroll, or click on. UI Designers are a kind of Graphic Designer, as they choose things like colour schemes, fonts, line spacing, transitions, and many more components of a user interface.
Like user experience design, user interface design is a multi-faceted and challenging role. It is responsible for the product’s development, research, content and layout into an attractive, guiding and responsive experience for users.
User interface design is a purely digital practice. It considers all the visual, interactive elements of a product interface — including buttons, icons, spacing, typography, color schemes, and responsive design.
The goal of UI design is to visually guide the user through a product’s interface. It’s all about creating an intuitive experience that doesn’t require the user to think too much!
A UX Designer is like the architect, who thinks about how human beings use houses, what their overall experience of the house should be.
The Engineers are the builders who actually…build. The Product Manager is the site manager, who makes sure that everyone is working in harmony.
The UI Designer is the interior designer, who works out which door handles to use, which way the windows are going to open, which rooms will have carpet and which will have tiles, what color to paint the walls, and so on.
UX and UI are equally essential for the success of a product. Without a UI Designer, you’re left with black and white wireframes with no graphic design, and the user will not enjoy using it…or even know how to use it and without a UX Designer, you’ve just got a random collection of buttons and menus, with no thought behind them.
