My MUN Experience

My MUN Experience

Recently, I participated in the SMCP MUN Second Edition 2026, representing Peru 🇵🇪 in the Historical United Nations Security Council (H-UNSC).

Our committee focused on the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Representing a country required research, preparation, communication, and the ability to understand different perspectives.

What I Learned

🎤 Communication and Public Speaking

Speaking during committee sessions challenged me to express my ideas clearly and confidently.

🔍 Research and Analysis

I learned how important it is to research a topic deeply and understand a country's position before forming arguments.

🤝 Collaboration and Negotiation

MUN involved interacting with delegates representing different countries, discussing possible solutions, and finding areas of agreement.

🧠 Thinking Under Pressure

The fast-paced discussions pushed me to listen carefully, organize my thoughts, and respond to changing situations.

An Achievement I'm Proud Of 🏆

I was honoured to receive an Honorable Mention during the conference.

This recognition means a lot to me, but the most valuable part of the experience was the confidence and skills I developed throughout the process.

What I Will Take Forward

As a Computer Science student, I spend a lot of time learning technical skills. This experience reminded me that skills such as communication, research, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence are equally important.

I'm grateful for this experience and excited to continue participating in opportunities that challenge me to learn and grow. 🚀

Skills developed:
Public Speaking • Communication • Research • Critical Thinking • Negotiation • Collaboration • Diplomacy
