How AI Enhances Border Infrastructure Monitoring

One of AI's biggest strengths is change detection. By comparing satellite images captured over different time periods, AI can automatically identify new roads, construction, altered terrain, vehicle tracks, or changes in vegetation. Instead of analysts manually reviewing thousands of images, the system highlights only locations where significant changes have occurred.
AI also works with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery, allowing monitoring even during poor weather, heavy cloud cover, or at night. This provides year-round surveillance across difficult border regions where optical imagery alone may not be sufficient.
