This is a submission for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass
What I Built
Go outside → find a bird → take a picture → upload it → learn about it. 🐦
The user uploads an image of a bird, and the open source model analyze the image and provides information about the bird, including its possible species and details about its appearance.
How I Built It
The core of the project is Gemma, an open-weight AI model.
The application takes an uploaded bird image and sends it to Gemma for analysis. Gemma then generates a text response based on what it sees in the image.
Why Does Open Innovation Matter?
Using Gemma gave me the opportunity to explore how an open-weight AI model can analyze bird images and turn them into useful information.
One thing I like about open-weight models is the flexibility they offer. Developers can experiment with different ways of using a model, adapt their applications, and explore local inference without relying entirely on a closed API.
