I’m a TXT guy.
Every time I need to write something down, I open a .txt file.
Not Markdown. Not Word. Not a note-taking application. Just a text file.
The funny thing is that I know Markdown. I use it all the time. But when I’m writing notes for myself, I don’t bother.
I use:
- dashes
- asterisks
- empty lines
- random separators like ---
Sometimes a # sneaks in. That’s about as advanced as it gets.
Years ago, I would probably have looked for a better solution. A more structured solution. A smarter solution.
Today, I just open a text file.
A text file doesn’t care what operating system I’m using. It doesn’t need an account. It doesn’t need synchronization. It doesn’t need a subscription. It doesn’t need AI.
It just sits there and stores text.
And somehow, after all these years of new tools, new formats, and new productivity systems, plain text still feels like home.
I’m a TXT guy.
