Ad schedule bid adjustments (dayparting) let you bid more during peak conversion hours
and less during low-value hours. Applied with data, it is one of the highest-ROI Google Ads settings.
The Problem With 24/7 Equal Bidding
A service business running ads at 3am pays the same CPCs as during peak business hours.
But 3am traffic almost never converts. The budget is there. The conversions are not.
Ad scheduling solves this with time-based bid multipliers.
How to Pull the Data
Before setting adjustments, you need conversion data by time:
- Google Ads → Campaigns → Segment → Day of week
- Note CVR by day. Identify top and bottom days.
- Google Ads → Campaigns → Segment → Hour of day
- Note CVR by hour. Flag hours with 0 conversions in sufficient data.
Minimum data required: 4 weeks of conversion history. Do not set adjustments without this.
Setting Bid Adjustments
Above-average CVR hours: +15% to +30% bid adjustment
Below-average CVR hours: -20% to -40% bid adjustment
Zero-conversion hours (with ample data): -90% or full pause
Navigate to: Campaign settings → Ad schedule → Edit time blocks → Set % adjustment
Seasonal Reassessment
Consumer behavior shifts. A B2B campaign converting Mon-Fri 9-5 in Q1 may have different patterns in Q4 or during holiday periods.
Reassess dayparting data: Every 4-6 weeks, especially after major business or campaign changes.
