Zenaria x40, a classic MU Online Season 6 Episode 3 server with a native Mac client, opened on October 16 at 19:00 MSK. Most of day one went into fixing what players reported, so here is the dev side of the story.
Client builds 217-222
We shipped six client builds in the first 24 hours (217-221 on Oct 16, 222 on Oct 17). Highlights:
- a quest window (F7);
- wings and pets stay after teleport, buffs too;
- the MU Helper pickup list keeps all 12 items;
- the MU Helper window, buff fixes and other small things.
Server patch of October 17
- Kundun chests (+2...+5) and Box of Luck from golden monsters now drop Excellent items only, including Grow Lancer, Rune Wizard and Slayer gear;
- Heart of Love and medals drop 1.5x more often;
- skills are learned by class, as in original Season 6;
- Slayer is balanced to match Blade Master;
- characters no longer get stuck in game after logging out;
- offline leveling no longer wastes time on skills that are still on cooldown.
The Mac client
MU has always been Windows-only, so we ship a native Apple Silicon app (M1-M4 and newer, macOS 12+). No Wine, CrossOver or Parallels. The app itself is about 14 MB, the game data (about 1.3 GB) downloads on first launch, and after that the client updates itself. It uses the same account as the Windows client. Intel Macs are not supported.
Numbers so far
Peak of 75 real players online at the same time (Oct 17, 14:15 MSK, bots are not counted). Resets on x40 start at level 350, so nobody has reset yet. The top hero is level 319.
