Dealing with mixed units in shared documents

Mixed units are common in shared documents, especially when multiple people contribute over time.
Nothing is technically wrong, but the mental switching slows everything down.

My way of handling this is to normalize the information once, early on. I check a reference value, understand the scale, and then read the rest of the document with that context in mind.
