Building Resilient REST APIs with TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL

Most backend bottlenecks don’t happen because of poor hardware.

They happen because of unindexed database queries, sloppy async error handling, and types that only exist in the developer's head.

After building production services in Jaipur for global clients, I’ve learned that rock-solid REST architecture comes down to three non-negotiables:

1️⃣ Strict Type Safety: Using TypeScript across your entire Node.js stack eliminates entire classes of runtime bugs before they even touch staging.
2️⃣ PostgreSQL Indexing & Optimization: Never trust an ORM blindly. Inspect your execution plans and index your foreign keys.
3️⃣ Defensive Error Boundaries: Graceful degradation, structured logging, and robust async/await try-catch patterns keep your uptime high when third-party APIs fail.

Great software isn't just about making it work once—it's about making it survive production at 3 AM.

What’s your go-to pattern for handling background jobs and retries in Node? Let’s discuss in the comments! 👇
