The Cheapest App to Build Is the One You Don’t Build


I came across an interesting perspective on app validation:

Your first job isn't to prove that your app idea is brilliant.

It's to find out whether the problem is painful enough for people to act on.

Competitor reviews, search behavior, existing workarounds, user interviews, pricing, and real signups can reveal far more than hypothetical feedback like “I’d definitely use this.”

The strongest validation signals aren't compliments.

They're behavior.

Someone searches for a solution.

Someone switches from an existing workaround.

Someone tests your prototype.

Someone asks about pricing.

Someone actually pays.

That’s the kind of evidence worth collecting before investing heavily in development.
