I built Nitron to turn web projects into mobile apps with npm

You have a website built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It works, it looks good, and you're happy with it.

Now you want an Android or iOS app.

Do you really want to start a whole new mobile development workflow just to reuse a project you've already built?

That's the problem I'm working on with Nitron.

Nitron is an open-source tool that helps web developers turn their existing web projects into Android and iOS apps through an npm-based workflow.

The idea

  1. Build your website using the tools you already know.
  2. Configure Nitron for your project.
  3. Run the build command.
  4. Get a mobile app package to test and prepare for distribution.

Here's a quick demo of the build process:

Why I built it

I wanted to make the path from a finished web project to a mobile app simpler, without making developers adopt the usual full Android Studio or Xcode workflow as their starting point.

Nitron is still evolving, and I'm continuing to improve it as I encounter problems while using it in real projects.

I'd particularly like to hear from developers who have an existing web app and want to ship it on mobile.

Try Nitron

I'd appreciate feedback on the workflow, compatibility issues, and anything that makes the process harder than it should be.
