The idea first came to fruition when me and my wife were planning our trip to Malaysia with our families. There we were, both, sitting on call organising the trip with our family, with Sheets opened and a bunch of columns and rows with tasks and locations and stays and budgets. Everything was messy and all our travel document related items were basically in different emails as we did different bookings at different times and had to make changes.
All this made me search for a planning tool online to see if it can help with our mess but I noticed that the tools available, whilst thorough and comprehensive, made it a bit overwhelming to setup and start planning.
Personally, I like to use websites and apps that solve a problem clearly without overwhelming me. If something feels cluttered or complicated, I usually end up giving up and looking for an alternative that does the same job in a simpler way.
A lot of travel planning tools either overwhelm people with too many features or feel underwhelming because they don’t offer enough. My goal is to find that middle ground for people who love travelling and want an easy way to plan and organise trips for themselves or others, and share the journey with everyone involved.

That’s exactly why I built JourneyJot.
Keeping in mind the problems and difficulties I faced, I wanted to create a platform that was easy to use. The aim is to keep things simple and never overwhelm you, while still giving you enough space to capture the details that matter. It’s about striking the right balance between what you need to plan properly and presenting it in a clear, visual way.
Key features
- Build your itinerary without the clutter. Add the right amount of detail, without feeling like you’re filling out a spreadsheet.
- See your plans laid out clearly so you always know what’s happening and when.
- Multi-destination friendly. Plan trips with multiple stops and keep everything organised by location.
- Share trips with others, collaborate with friends or family so everyone’s on the same page.
- Fast to update, tweak dates, reorder plans, and adjust your trip as you go.
I’d love your thoughts, and any feedback is genuinely welcome.
