VIDRAFT launches 'AI Foundry': it doesn't sell AI, it grows yours

Korean deep-tech startup VIDRAFT (CEO Kim Min-sik) has unveiled its business model as an 'AI Foundry.' Just as a semiconductor foundry manufactures a fabless company's design, VIDRAFT takes an organization's AI needs and grows a model for them — diagnosing, breeding and tuning existing models to state-of-the-art, then deploying them on-premises.

The logic is simple: general cloud AI cannot enter markets where data must never leave a secure network — public sector, defense, healthcare, finance. Those institutions need their own model, on their own network, but cannot build one from scratch. VIDRAFT does it for them, and calls it "not a roadmap item, but a business already generating revenue."

Revenue accrues at every foundry layer: on-premises foundry contracts, serving-infrastructure fees (its VKAE/VKUE engines reach up to 23.4x throughput), domain-OS build and operation, the AX-RAY AI-safety diagnostic, and the ODC drug-discovery challenge. The margin source is design IP — 16 patents and 6 papers — multiplied by serving efficiency.

The results back it up: VIDRAFT passed 1.6 million cumulative downloads on Hugging Face, the only startup among the four Korean organizations past a million, and swept public leaderboards including Polaris (16 first-place categories) and GPQA Diamond (90.9%). "We don't build models," Kim says. "We grow them."
