Finishing Hacktoberfest for the FIRST TIME!

Who am I? 😳

Hello! I'm Ainul Mardhiyyah, a budding Software Developer from Singapore. I first started programming in my first year of university a couple of years ago, and decided to stick with it.

Background

While I'm not new of software development, I was very much a newbie to open-source! When I heard my friend explain it with ease, I then started to do some of my own research, and then decided to attempt Hacktoberfest once more!

Progress

Having successfully completed my four pull requests, I was excited to qualify for the free t-shirt - especially since I'm a sucker for free tech merch. I had such a fascinating learning journey into open-source contributions, and how improvements move from the develop/feature branch all the way to the main/master deployment.

Contributions

I decided to create a simple beginner Python Flask app - Python being my favourite programming language. My idea is definitely not new - but I figured that I could at least do a simple two-page site if anyone were to be curious about doing their first web-dev project, and all they had to do is jus go to "my-first-flask-app" repo on my GitHub profile! I also figured that I could lump my interest in software development, and learn about pull requests at the same time by building this simple project.

Reflections

All in all, I am super proud for completing my first Hacktoberfest challenge - having missed last year's one. Here's to learning more about open-source, and maybe I can contribute to an external or bigger personal project instead!
