You know what the email needs to say, but putting it into sentences takes longer than explaining it aloud. You can speak the rough idea into your phone and get a first draft without a cloud writing service. OGAM (Off Grid AI Mobile) first converts your speech to editable text. A downloaded local chat model can then turn that text into an email, article outline, or short proposal. Both steps work offline after setup.

This guide uses Chat mode. You review your words before the model writes anything. It is useful when you know what you want to say but do not yet have the order or wording.
What do you need before you start?
You need an on-device transcription model and an on-device text model. Speech recognition returns your words. The text model follows your writing request. A voice-output model is optional and is not needed here.
Use Android 10 or later with at least 4 GB of RAM, or a supported iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 17 or later. These are app requirements; larger models can need more memory. Install the app and download the models while connected.

How do you prepare offline dictation and writing?
In Model Settings > Transcription (Speech to Text) > Transcription model, download and select an on-device model. Base, 99 languages, at about 142 MB, is a small multilingual starting point. Then select a downloaded local text model in Models > Text.
Open Chat Settings > SPEECH TO TEXT > Language and choose the language you will speak. Keep the interface in Chat mode. Select local models for both stages; a local speech model does not make a remote text model work without internet.
How do you turn the recording into a draft?
Record a short explanation, correct the transcript, then add a specific writing request. Tell the model who will read the draft, what the draft must achieve, and which facts it must keep. Ask it to mark missing information instead of filling gaps with invented details.
1. Speak the facts
With the message box empty, hold the app's microphone control. Speak, then release it. Use OGAM's control rather than the keyboard's dictation button, which can use a different service.
For example:
I need to email the workshop group. We are moving Friday's session from ten to eleven. The room stays the same. Ask everyone to confirm by Thursday afternoon. Keep it friendly and short.
2. Check the transcript
The words appear in the message box. Check the day, time, names, and the request to confirm. A later writing pass cannot reliably recover a number that the speech model heard incorrectly.
3. Add the writing task
Append this instruction before sending:
Turn these notes into an email of no more than 120 words. Include a subject line. Keep the stated facts. Do not add a reason for the time change. Mark any missing detail with [check].
Tap Send. The expected result is a written draft in the conversation. It is not a sent email. Review and copy it into your chosen editor when ready.
4. Make one revision
Ask, "Make the request to confirm clearer. Keep the time and deadline unchanged." Compare the result with your notes. For a longer article or proposal, ask for an outline first, then check it before requesting a full draft.
What if the draft is wrong or too general?

Does the recording leave your phone?
The selected on-device speech model processes the recording locally, and the selected local text model writes the draft. Connected models, tools, device sync, and the app you later paste into have their own network behavior. For a simple offline check, use airplane mode with Wi-Fi off after setup.
The released dictation workflow keeps the text editable before you send it. Your email stays a draft until you put it into your mail app and send it yourself.
Download OGAM and speak the facts for one email. Ask for a short draft, check its dates and names, then copy it into your mail app when you are ready.
