Most Telegram groups handle birthdays the same way: someone remembers, or nobody does.
There's a better default, and it takes one command per person. The BirthdayReminderProBot setup lets every member save their own birthday once with /bday, and from then on the group handles the rest without an admin touching anything.
The one command that fixes it
Each member types /bday 14-03 in the group. Day-month format, so no year needed unless you want to share it. That's the whole setup for a member. The bot stores the date and takes over from there.
On the day, at 09:00 in the group's timezone, the bot posts a greeting in the group naming whoever's birthday it is. No admin schedules anything. No spreadsheet lives in a pinned message slowly going stale.
Seeing what's coming
/upcoming lists the next birthdays in the group, soonest first, with the days-away count for each. This is the command that turns the feature from a novelty into an actual planning tool. Someone checks it, sees two birthdays this week, and the group has time to organize something.
Pro groups get a bit more. Every other member receives a DM the day before, so people have time to say something or grab a gift. And the greeting itself is customizable through /greeting, so the group can set its own tone instead of the default template.
Trying it without adding anything
If you're not ready to add a bot to your group, type @BirthdayReminderProBot 12 May in any chat. It posts a card showing the days until that date. Zero commitment, and it answers the "how many days until X" question on the spot.
Why this beats the pinned message
A pinned birthday list works until it doesn't. People join, their dates never get added, someone's timezone shifts the greeting to the wrong morning, and the list quietly becomes wrong. The per-member model fixes each of those: members own their dates, the bot owns the timing, and /upcoming keeps everything visible without anyone maintaining a list.
Setup cost is one command per person. That's a fair trade for never being the person who forgot again.
