It's really minimal leg work here since I'm going to walk you through it. I do not benefit in any way if you sign up for Visible. If you are a thrifter like me, the savings are too good not to share!
My phone bill is $5/month now throughout the new year.
This assumes your phone is paid off and you have no outstanding contracts or anything like that.
Break It Down:
I have been paying T-Mobile over $100 a month for the last 10+ years. Not to mention all the phones I've purchased. Let's do the math on that really quick for the last 10 years.
service:
$100/month = $1200/year
$1200/year x 10 years = $12,000
New phone every 2 years, avg price $1000:
5 phones X 1000 = $5,000
let monthly = 100
let years = 10
let newPhone = 1000
var phoneCost = (years/2) x 1000
var serviceCost = (monthly x 12) x years
var spending = phoneCost + serviceCost
console.log(spending)
If you are a beginner like me let's practice using the console in Dev Tools!
Wasn't that fun? It works!
$17,000 over 10 years, +- your actual spending depending. Ask yourself how necessary is the service that you have.
In the last 10 years, how much student loan or credit card debt have you collected? No need to answer. I think you see my point. XD
If you are like me and spend most of your time connected to the internet, it makes you really think about why you are basically paying for 2 internets...
My brother recommended Visible to me. When I finally did some looking into it, I was more comfortable to find out that it is actually powered by the Verizon network, which is one of the big guys. Service should be generally good for my purposes.
Why visible is awesome:
- No contracts
- Verizon Network
- Use old phone number and phone
- With eSIM you can be set up from home within the hour
- Affordable plans even before discounts are applied
- Visible: $25/mo.
- Visible+ $45/mo.
- View Visible plans
- You may not have priority during times of high network traffic
- Setting up a phone yourself requires a little bit of technical skill and may not be suitable for everyone
- You need to be comfortable navigating a phone and doing light troubleshooting
Considerations before switching:
If you use promo code CHAMP you get $5 a month off your Visible service for 2 years, or $10 off your visible+ plan for 2 years.
You also get $20 off each month for referring a friend. Your friend ALSO gets $20! Couple friends here, couple fams there, cheap phone service, everywhere. XD
So my brain said: "I'm going to get free phone service!" Well, almost free. Turns out that they have a minimum monthly bill requirement of $5. Well I guess I can't nickel-and-dime everything. LOL
I had to manually reach out to customer service to use the promotional codes because I entered the promo codes after signing up. They have a very prompt online chat where you talk to actual humans about your actual problems. I know they are human because one called me. XD
So, after getting the fam on board, I've reduced everyone's phone bill by 40-80%, and banked 4 months of nearly-free phone service.
I also made sure to use the insurance on my previous plan before I switched to replace my phone as it was very scratched and had a cracked main camera lens.
That's how I got a brand new phone and $5/month phone service. As much as I would love to share my promo code with you all I will not be doing that because I would have to give you my phone number. So out of the goodness of my heart I share this post. LOL. But you can share with your connections and spread the savings.
Yearly cost average before: $1,250 (100/mo x 12mos) + 500/year for new phone. Yearly cost average after: $650 (5/mo x 12mos) + 500/year for new phone. I've cut my total phone spending in half, and less if I can make my phone last or find better deals. This assumes I'll continue to refer family and friends, which I probably will do of course. Lets run the console again with my new numbers, for practice!
let monthly = 5
let years = 10
let newPhone = 1000
var phoneCost = (years/2) * 1000
var serviceCost = (monthly x 12) x years
var spending = phoneCost + serviceCost
console.log(spending)
Future car down payment? Less debt? You decide. I'm probably getting coffee. XD
For the vast majority of us, this plan is probably more than sufficient. Although I do realize some of us are in unique situations. If I can help 1 stranger save money to help relieve some financial burden, then this post was worth the effort.

This looks like an ad/affiliate thingy tbh.
On the other hand yes, taking a look once a year to your services such phone, Internet... and specially insurances, electricity, and gas can lead you to save considerable amounts of money!
Google Calendar helps me with a yearly reminder I set long ago ๐
Yeah I was afraid it was going to feel like an ad, but I wanted to share anyways. Because I would want people to tell me about it. My life has been all over the place, so when i get a moment to look at something like this its exciting! Show me a cheaper phone plan. I'll convert. LOL
