A companion you can't customize gets old fast. Scowld lets you choose who you're talking to.
The app ships with three avatars: Aria, Bella, and Ciel. Beyond that, you can set a custom avatar and a custom name for your companion.
Because the characters are VRM models rendered with three-vrm and Three.js, the avatar is an asset, not hardcoded. That's what makes swapping faces feel natural: each one comes with its own lip sync, idle animations, and expressions through the same rendering pipeline.
The customization isn't just cosmetic. Character settings let you set:
- The avatar (one of the built-ins or your custom one)
- A custom name (which also becomes your hands-free wake word)
- A system prompt to shape how the companion behaves
So you can build a companion that looks the way you want, is named what you want, responds to that name when you speak it, and has a personality you defined. The face, the name, and the behavior all line up.
It's iOS only, MIT licensed, built solo. Meet your companion on the site.
