Apryse, formerly PDFTron, builds SDKs that put document viewing, editing, conversion, and data extraction inside your app. One C++ core, compiled for browser, server, and mobile.
Apryse started with a rendering engine, not a product roadmap. The C++ core our engineers began building more than 20 years ago still runs every SDK we ship today, and it is our own code rather than a wrapper over an open-source renderer. That engine is why the same document behaves the same way in a browser, on a server, and on a phone.
The company grew by adding to that foundation instead of around it. The veterans behind PDFTron and iText built it, Scanbot SDKs extended it to mobile and edge capture, and 150+ of our 600 employees now work in R&D. Today 20,000+ companies run the result, including 85% of the Fortune 100.
Our stack
One C++ core does the document work. It compiles to native binaries for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android, and to WebAssembly for the browser, so rendering, editing, conversion, and extraction share one implementation, not four.
You reach it through language bindings: JavaScript in the browser, and Java, Python, C#, C++, and Node.js on the server. Deployment is yours. The Apryse Web SDK (WebViewer) runs client-side, the Apryse Server SDK runs self-hosted in your own infrastructure or air-gapped, and Scanbot SDKs process capture on device. No document leaves the environment you control. There is no third-party service to call.
