I Tested 35+ AI Headshot Generators — Here’s the Best One for Professional Results

#ai

I've tested over 35 AI headshot generators so you don't need to.

The best tool I tried is called BetterPic.io.

BetterPic is an AI that turns your selfies into professional headshots.

Here are real images of myself:

And here are the AI-generated headshots:

That is crazy realistic! Those look very much like me with only small details missing/off.

My Experience with BetterPic

I used BetterPic's Pro plan to help you save both time and money.

This tool generates images quickly, lets you edit them, and even offers a free manual edit from the team.

To try the product, sign up here. If you just want to read along and find more results and my thoughts, be my guest!

First, before you get your headshots, you need to understand these instructions:

The AI wants to learn what you look like based on existing images of yourself.

In other words, you need to send some casual pictures of yourself to the AI. Obviously, these don't need to be professional pictures. As I showed before, I used images from my iPhone camera roll.

Before you continue, tell the AI your name, ethnicity, use cases, and such.

After this step, it's time to pick a bunch of headshot styles you like. You can choose up to three different style options.

These give you better control over your results and give more accurate headshots for your specific use case.

Not all tools offer this feature, so that's why I appreciate it a lot.

I’ve tested a bunch of these headshot generators and I think this was the only one, to be honest.

Then once more, read the image instructions. I recommend using different images from different lighting, clothing, and poses to let the AI know what you look like.

Before you upload your images, please read the image guide carefully. Your face should be visible and you shouldn’t make faces in it.

These are the images I used:

When you upload images, BetterPic gives them a quality grade. Low-res images will not be accepted. In fact, this is the hardest part when it comes to using tools like BetterPic to make AI headshots. Your input images must be clear and high in resolution. Otherwise, the AI can't extract your features and learn what you look like.

If you don't take a lot of images of yourself, this can be a bit of a hassle.

The AI took 45 minutes to create 100 images of me.

Obviously, you don't need to wait here. Everything takes place remotely on BetterPic servers. So you can just close the window. What's even more handy is that they will send you an email once the images are ready.

Here are the AI headshot results that I got from BetterPic:

Isn't that cool? Those look very close to what I look like, and for someone who's not familiar with what I look like, those are exact replicas, aren't they?

Here are more results as close-ups:

That’s so cool that the AI can do stuff like this.

The only thing that gives it away is the fact that I never dress so professionally. Other than that, there’s no way to tell it’s an AI headshot and not real me.

Although I've hyped it up a bit, let's get real for a second.

The AI headshots (or anything generated with AI) are always a bit of a dice roll. If you have an image that you like but there’s something off, you can ask the team to do a manual edit.

To do that, just pick an image, click “BP AI Edit” and then “Human Edit.”

I asked the team to remove my necklace because I never wear those.

Here’s the before-after result:

They removed the necklace flawlessly!

This is a game-changer because now I can buy an AI photoshoot for my team knowing that everyone will get at least one great result they’re happy with. However, this human-editing feature only belongs to the most expensive Expert plan!

To use the human edits feature, make sure to pick the Expert plan!

Pros

  • Faster: It took just 30-45 minutes to create the AI images, compared to 1–2 hours with other similar tools.
  • Realistic images: BetterPic created near-perfect replicas using just 8 real photos of myself. That's so cool!
  • User-friendly: The least difficult, smoothest, and quickest AI headshot tool I’ve tested.
  • AI editing: Allows you to edit images, change backgrounds, eye color, attire, and more.

Cons

  • Slower than taking real images: While BetterPic is faster than other AI headshot generator products, 45 minutes might still feel a bit too slow.
  • Errors: Sometimes misses the mark and the AI photos end up looking a bit off...

Pricing

  • Basic: $35 (one time)
  • Pro: $39 (one time)
  • Expert: $79 (one time)
