A lot of people wait
to be invited.
They have the idea,
the question,
the thing worth saying —
and they hold it,
waiting for someone
to give them permission
to speak.
The permission rarely comes.
Not because you're unwelcome.
Because everyone else
is waiting too,
and nobody's job
is to hand out turns.
Here's what took me
too long to learn:
the invitation
is you deciding to contribute.
You don't need a title
to ask a good question.
You don't need seniority
to point out the thing
everyone's missing.
You don't need permission
to be useful.
Contribute where you are,
with what you have,
now.
Nobody in that room
knows you were unsure
whether you were allowed.
They just heard the idea.
The people who grow fastest
aren't the most qualified.
They're the ones
who stopped waiting
to be picked
and started contributing
as if they already belonged.
Because deciding you belong
is the whole trick.
