Most price questions I see in the German speaking private aviation market boil down to two route families. The long leisure hop down to the Balearics, and the short business jump between DACH financial centres. The two routes I keep getting asked about in 2026 are Berlin to Mallorca and Munich to Zurich, and they are interesting because the cost logic could not be more different.
Berlin to Mallorca: a midsize jet problem, not a light jet problem
The Berlin to Palma de Mallorca leg is about 1,930 km with around 2 hours 35 minutes of block time. That distance is right at the edge of what a light jet can do comfortably with four passengers and full tanks. Two things happen as a result:
- Light jets such as a Citation CJ3 work for two or three passengers, but operators often quote slightly higher because they have to plan for a possible tech stop on warm summer days. Realistic one way pricing sits around 12,500 to 16,000 EUR.
- Midsize jets such as a Citation XLS or Hawker 800XP fly it nonstop with eight passengers and have meaningful luggage volume. One way pricing lands in the 15,500 to 22,000 EUR range and that is usually the cabin people actually want for a family or group trip.
The peak season effect is huge. July weekends out of Berlin Brandenburg to Palma can clear 30 percent above shoulder season pricing because every owner wants the same Saturday slot. I broke the full per cabin table down in this Berlin to Mallorca private jet cost guide, and the Cologne to Mallorca comparison shows how the same dynamic plays out from a closer Rhine basin departure point.
Munich to Zurich: the cheapest serious DACH business charter
Munich to Zurich is the opposite problem. Distance is only around 240 km with 40 minutes of flight time, so the price floor is set by the operator minimum rather than fuel.
- A Very Light Jet such as a Phenom 100 or Citation Mustang runs roughly 5,500 to 6,500 EUR one way.
- A Light Jet such as a Phenom 300 or Citation XLS sits at 6,500 to 8,500 EUR.
- A Midsize Jet pushes 9,000 to 11,500 EUR, which is rarely worth it on a sub one hour leg.
The interesting catch is FBO selection. Zurich Kloten has the highest landing and handling fees in the DACH region, so some charter clients route into Zurich Dübendorf for cost or into St Gallen Altenrhein if their meeting is in the eastern Swiss financial corridor. The full per cabin table with FBO pricing is in this Munich to Zurich private jet cost guide.
Three things I tell first time charterers on either route
- The cabin class always matters more than the brand. Picking the smallest cabin that fits your group is the single biggest lever.
- Short DACH legs are about FBO fees, not flight time. A 30 minute leg with two FBO movements can have more ground cost than air cost.
- Leisure peaks crush you, business shoulders save you. Tuesday and Wednesday off peak Munich to Zurich is materially cheaper than a Monday morning slot, and the same is true for Mallorca on shoulder season Wednesdays.
These are not abstract numbers. They are the operator quotes I aggregated for the German market in late May 2026, and if you charter even twice a year the cabin and timing call is what decides whether you pay 6k or 22k for the same intent.
