Building an application that uses one third-party API is easy.
Building one that depends on ten of them is not.
A typical SaaS or automation project can quickly end up depending on separate services for:
- SMS and OTP verification
- Temporary Email API
- Email Validation API
- Proxy API
- TikTok Scraper API
- Instagram Scraper API
- YouTube Scraper API
- LinkedIn data
- SEO and keyword metrics
- utility APIs
At first, this does not look like a major architectural problem.
Then your .env starts looking like this:
SMS_API_KEY=
TEMP_MAIL_API_KEY=
EMAIL_VALIDATION_API_KEY=
TIKTOK_API_KEY=
INSTAGRAM_API_KEY=
YOUTUBE_API_KEY=
SEO_API_KEY=
PROXY_USERNAME=
PROXY_PASSWORD=
Each provider also brings its own authentication method, billing account, rate limits, response schema, retry strategy, documentation, error format and dashboard.
This was the problem that led me to build AxioAPI β a unified API platform for developers, SaaS products and automation workflows.
Instead of integrating many unrelated providers directly into an application, the idea is simple:
Application
|
v
AxioAPI
|
+-- SMS / OTP
+-- Temporary Email
+-- Email Validation
+-- Social Data
+-- Proxy / VPN
+-- SEO Data
+-- Utility APIs
One account. One API key. One credit wallet. Multiple API services.
The real problem is not calling an API
Most APIs are easy to call.
const response = await fetch(url, {
headers: {
Authorization: `Bearer ${API_KEY}`
}
});
const data = await response.json();
The difficult part appears later.
Imagine your application uses eight providers. One returns success/data, another returns status/result, and another returns code/payload.
Now multiply that by authentication, rate limits, billing and provider-specific errors.
The integration itself is rarely the expensive part.
Maintaining the integrations is.
That is where a unified API platform becomes useful.
What is AxioAPI?
AxioAPI is an API platform for developers that exposes many different services through one account and one authentication model.
At the time of writing, the platform includes 100+ API capabilities across multiple categories.
Some of the main categories are:
Verification and communication APIs
- SMS API
- OTP API
- phone verification API
- Temporary Email API
- Email Validation API
Social media scraping APIs
- TikTok Scraper API
- Facebook Scraper API
- Instagram Scraper API
- YouTube Scraper API
- X / Twitter API
- LinkedIn Scraper API
- Reddit API
- GitHub data API
Infrastructure APIs
- Proxy API
- VPN nodes
- rotating proxy sessions
SEO, content and utility APIs
- SEO API
- Keyword API
- keyword metrics
- keyword ideas
- backlink data

One API key instead of multiple credentials
The main integration pattern is Bearer authentication:
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
Instead of maintaining many secrets, an application can use:
AXIO_API_KEY=
This reduces secret management, credential rotation, duplicated HTTP clients, integration code, billing complexity and provider-specific configuration.
Temporary Email API for testing and automation
One API I frequently need when building automation and QA workflows is a Temporary Email API.
A typical automated signup test looks like this:
Create temporary inbox
|
v
Submit registration form
|
v
Receive verification email
|
v
Extract OTP or verification link
|
v
Complete signup
This is useful with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, CI/CD pipelines, staging environments, password-reset testing and email OTP testing.
With AxioAPI, creating an inbox looks like this:
curl -X POST 'https://axioapi.com/api/v1/temp-mail/inboxes' -H 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY' -H 'Accept: application/json' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' -d '{
"label": "signup-test",
"ttl_minutes": 10
}'
A typical response:
{
"data": {
"id": "9d3f6c1e-2b7a-4c55-8f0e-1a2b3c4d5e6f",
"address": "example@domain.com",
"status": "active",
"expires_at": "2026-10-01T10:42:18Z"
}
}
You can see the full Temporary Email API product page here.
Using AxioAPI from Laravel
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Http;
$response = Http::withToken(env('AXIO_API_KEY'))
->acceptJson()
->post('https://axioapi.com/api/v1/temp-mail/inboxes', [
'label' => 'signup-test',
'ttl_minutes' => 10,
]);
$data = $response->json();
The same API key can then be reused across other AxioAPI categories.
Email Validation API for SaaS and lead workflows
Another common SaaS requirement is an Email Validation API.
It can be useful during account registration, lead generation, CRM imports, newsletter signup, email hygiene and fraud prevention.
Typical checks include syntax, domain, MX records, disposable email and deliverability.
Related search intents include email validation API, email verification API, disposable email checker API, email deliverability API and check email exists API.
Social Media Scraping APIs
Social data is a particularly good example of integration sprawl.
A research platform may need data from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Reddit and GitHub.
Using a different provider for every platform quickly becomes difficult to maintain.
AxioAPI exposes separate social-data categories while keeping authentication and billing centralized.
Possible use cases include creator research, competitor analysis, content intelligence, social monitoring, profile enrichment, internal analytics and automation workflows.
This is where the value of an API platform for developers becomes clearer:
the goal is not simply to provide another scraper.
The goal is to avoid integrating eight scraper providers.
Proxy API for automation workflows
A scraping or automation stack often looks like this:
Scraper API
+
Proxy provider
+
Proxy rotation
+
Country targeting
+
Session handling
AxioAPI also includes Proxy API and VPN-related workflows such as location selection, sticky sessions, proxy rotation, geo testing, data collection and automation.
Relevant SEO terms include proxy API, rotating proxy API, VPN API and proxy for automation.
SEO API and keyword data
Another category available in AxioAPI is SEO data.
The current SEO-related capabilities include keyword metrics, search volume, CPC, keyword difficulty, keyword suggestions, domain overview, backlink summary, domain history and on-page audit.
This can be useful when building an internal SEO dashboard, keyword research tool, backlink analysis tool or technical audit system.
Relevant search terms include SEO API, keyword API, keyword research API and SEO automation API.
Shared credit pricing instead of multiple subscriptions
AxioAPI uses a shared credit model.
At the time of writing:
1 credit = $0.001
The free plan includes:
200 credits / month
Paid plans start at:
Developer $15/month
Growth $49/month
Business $129/month
Different endpoints have different credit costs, but the same wallet can be used across different API categories.
Pricing details:

Developer experience matters more than endpoint count
Having 100+ APIs is not useful if developers cannot understand them.
AxioAPI provides REST APIs, Bearer authentication, JSON responses, OpenAPI documentation, interactive testing, code examples, request tracking and centralized billing.
Developer documentation:

API access from Telegram
AxioAPI also has a Telegram interface:
@axioapi_bot
It can be useful for quick workflows around SMS / OTP, temporary inboxes, proxy access and wallet balance.
When does a unified API platform make sense?
A unified API platform becomes more useful when you have multiple external APIs, automation-heavy workflows, multiple environments, internal tools or fast prototyping needs.
If your application only needs one specialized API, integrating that provider directly may be simpler.
The architecture trade-off
A unified API platform is still an abstraction layer.
That has benefits:
fewer credentials
less integration code
centralized billing
consistent developer experience
But direct integration can still be better when you need highly specialized provider features, a direct enterprise contract, specific compliance requirements or ultra-low latency.
The important question is:
At what point does maintaining multiple API providers become more expensive than maintaining one integration layer?
Final thoughts
The original motivation behind AxioAPI was simple: I got tired of integrating the same categories of services over and over again.
SMS needed one account.
Temporary email needed another.
Social data needed several more.
Proxy infrastructure was separate again.
SEO data had another billing system.
So instead of optimizing each individual integration, I started working on the integration layer itself.
Today, AxioAPI provides a growing catalog of developer APIs through one account, one API key and one shared credit system.
If you are building SaaS, automation, testing, scraping, SEO tools or internal developer products, you can explore it here:

I would also genuinely like feedback from other developers:
How many external APIs does your project use before managing them starts becoming painful?
