BackendBrewery.dev is an independent engineering publication dedicated to backend software engineering. Its mission is to help software engineers make better engineering decisions through evergreen, production-focused articles.
BackendBrewery started from a simple idea: backend engineering is less about memorizing frameworks and more about making good decisions under real-world constraints. The goal is to document those decisions clearly, with practical implementations, trade-offs, and failure modes that remain useful long after publication.
Our stack
BackendBrewery runs on a modern TypeScript stack. The application uses Node.js and Express.js for backend services, Next.js for web interfaces, MySQL for relational data, Redis and BullMQ for queues and background processing, and Docker for local and deployment environments. AWS provides the underlying cloud infrastructure. The publication itself is built with Docusaurus, with articles written in Markdown and managed alongside the codebase.
