FastAPI CRUD Explained for Beginners

When I started learning FastAPI, CRUD looked confusing.

Then I realized every backend application follows the same four operations.

What is CRUD?

CRUD stands for:

  • Create
  • Read
  • Update
  • Delete

These are the basic operations used in almost every API.

Example

Create a task

POST /tasks
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

Get all tasks

GET /tasks
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

Update a task

PUT /tasks/{id}
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode

Delete a task

DELETE /tasks/{id}
Enter fullscreen mode Exit fullscreen mode
