I’m Building an AI Music SaaS: My Journey Into Generative AI and Creator Tools

Hi everyone, I’m Maggie Zhou.

I’m an indie maker currently building FreeMusicCreator.ai, an AI-powered music creation platform that helps creators generate music ideas faster and explore new ways of making sounds.

My journey started from a simple question:

Can AI make music creation more accessible for everyone?

Many people love music but feel that traditional music production requires too much knowledge, expensive software, or years of experience. With the development of generative AI, I believe creating music can become a more natural and creative experience.

Right now, I’m exploring different parts of building an AI SaaS product:

• Generative AI and AI music technology
• Creating better user experiences for creators
• SEO and organic growth strategies
• Building products for global users
• Understanding what makes people turn from free users into long-term customers

Building a product from zero is challenging. There are many experiments, failures, and unexpected lessons along the way. But that is also the most exciting part of being a maker.

Through DEV Community, I hope to share what I learn while building an AI product — from product decisions and growth experiments to lessons about AI, SaaS, and the creator economy.
