I think one of the concepts that are hard for very early beginners are variables and types: Python is not better than JS regarding this topic.
On the other hand JS(+HTML+CSS) is interesting for beginners because they immediately see (graphical) results. Your browser can be your runtime, and your editor (Chrome DevTools -> Sources -> Workspace).
